Commission announces strategy overhaul to preserve and strengthen the EU financial system; sanctions, currency and market infrastructure singled out by highest levels of EU governance

The European Commission has unveiled a strategy designed to embolden the continent’s financial system as it competes with foreign competition and faces external threats.

The strategy, adopted by the Commission Tuesday, has the aim of stimulating openness, strength and resilience of the EU’s economic and financial frameworks for years to come, according to a statement issued at the unveiling.
