MEPs slam ‘confusing and inefficient’ list of tax havens and vote overwhelmingly for stricter measures; EU nations may be in line of fire; UK territories singled out

MEPs have sharply criticised the EU’s system of identifying global tax havens, saying that the ‘blacklist’ as it currently stands is not fit for purpose and costing EU citizens €140 billion.

They have voted overwhelmingly to include more jurisdictions on that list, including some UK overseas territories, which up till now had benefitted from being connected to an EU member state.
