Latvian police seize illegal digital currency machines and €97,000 after AML operation in Riga shopping centre

By Vish Gain for AMLi

LATVIAN POLICE have seized unauthorised digital currency machines and cash worth €97,000 in an anti-money laundering operation in Riga Tuesday.

The digital currency machines (DCMs) were discovered installed in Riga’s shopping centres and were used to make illegal digital currency transactions, the Baltic Times reported.

The cybercrime unit of Latvia’s state police found that the business had not been officially registered in the country and did not undergo compliance examinations required by law.
