ABN AMRO hit with new controversy as the bank reels from plummeting share prices

The new allegation could mean that the bank was aware of money laundering activities but did not act upon it — potentially leading to a higher fine and criminal charges against bank executives. Image: Donald Trung Quoc Don (Chữ Hán: 徵國單) - Wikimedia Commons

Scandal-ridden Dutch Bank ABN AMRO has found itself embroiled in further controversy after it’s been claimed the financial institution did not have appropriate anti-money laundering checks until 2019.

Dutch newspaper Financieele Dagblad claims the Bank failed to implement essential money laundering control systems until 2019, despite the Dutch Financial Supervisor, DNB stressing the importance of anti-money laundering regimes.
