Multi-billion-dollar Antwerp diamond markets set for new laws to curb money laundering; Mayor says news rules can ‘only benefit the reputation of the sector’

New laws are expected in the Belgian city of Antwerp that are designed to bring more safeguards into the lucrative jewel trade.

The rules, which take hold on the 1st of July this year, are intended to decrease the risk of money laundering, fraud, and the sale of fakes in what is considered ‘Diamond Capital of the World.’
