Two charged in US for money laundering and bribery in Ecuador pension fund fraud case; corrupt profits estimated to have climbed beyond $65M

Two men have been charged in the United States for a laundering scheme that involved defrauding a public pension fund in Ecuador, and which is thought to have led to illegal profits in the tens of millions of dollars.

John Luzuriaga Aguinaga (52) and Jorge Cherrez Miño (46) – both Ecuadorian citizens – were charged with conspiracy to commit money laundering at a Florida court last month.
