Former head of Swiss FIU appointed to UN anti-slavery and trafficking role

THE FORMER DIRECTOR of Switzerland’s financial intelligence unit is set to join the United Nations as head of finance against slavery and trafficking.

Daniel Thelesklaf, who left his job at the Swiss FIU last year after criticising its handling of criminal money coming into Swiss banks, has been appointed by the UN’s centre for policy research as director of the Liechtenstein Initiative for Finance Against Slavery and Trafficking, known as FAST.
