 Malta’s FIU hails ‘successful’ 2020 for AML; record-breaking reporting and staff increases shine in a year dominated by COVID and foreign oversight

The FinCrime watchdog of Malta has praised its own performance in 2020, describing the year as “successful” in its latest annual report.

Released Tuesday by the Financial Intelligence Analysis Unit (FIAU), it welcomed the organisation’s progress despite the shockwave of the COVID-19 pandemic and the constant string of international inspections.
