  Alleged Illegal Dealing in Mineral Resources: EFCC Docks Chinese Brothers, One Other in Enugu

  The Enugu Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 arraigned two Chinese siblings: Wang Jian and Wang Richard before Justice Mohammed Garba Umar of the Federal High Court sitting in Independence Layout, Enugu. The Chinese siblings were arraigned alongside Michael Berneth Agu, a Nigerian,  on a three count charge bordering on exporting of mineral ore without the permission of an  appropriate authority and possession of fifteen pieces of mineral ore without the permission of a lawful authority.

  The Central Bank of Ireland today (18 November) hosts the third annual Financial Systems Conference.  Building on the success of previous events, this year’s Conference theme is “Delivering a well-functioning financial system, supporting a changing economy”.  Attendees at the Conference include industry leaders, consumer representatives and policymakers from Ireland and across the EU. Speaking at the event, Governor of the Central Bank of Ireland Gabriel Makhlouf said: “In the face of a changing ecosystem, central banks, regulators, businesses and consumers all have to adapt, transform and evolve.

  Marking the inaugural International Day for the Prevention of and Fight against All Forms of Transnational Organized Crime on Friday, the United Nations emphasized that only a unified global effort is capable of countering these pervasive threats. Proclaimed by the General Assembly in March this year, the International Day also pays tribute to all victims of organized crime, including those who have lost their lives fighting such crime, in particular law enforcement and judicial personnel.
