NEWS: S&P revises TD Bank’s outlook to ‘negative’ on risk management weakness

STRICTURES: National Bank analyst Gabriel Dechaine wrote in a note on TD's woes that regulators could also contemplate the type of asset cap. U.S. regulators in 2018 imposed a cap on Wells Fargo that would restrict loan growth. "If growth here is restricted, TD could deliver sub-par earnings growth relative to peers over the next several years," Dechaine wrote.

TD Bank TD.TO on Wednesday received a rating outlook revision from S&P Global SPGI.Nto “negative,” the second downgrade from a rating agency for a lender facing probes into anti-money laundering practices in the US.

S&P Global said it revised the rating outlook to “negative” from “stable,” citing weakness in risk management and controls.
