BENEFICIAL OWNERSHIP: Many Crown dependencies such as Jersey have cited the European Court of Justice ruling as a reason for restricting access largely to bodies such as law enforcement agencies. “It’s for a long time been a policy position of the island to allow appropriate transparency but protecting privacy rights,” said George Pearmain, the director of financial crime strategy for the Jersey government and the head of delegation to MONEYVAL.
