Compliance and payment professionals will get a unique opportunity to learn how to identify manipulated videos at an upcoming webinar.

The free online event (insert link here: https://us06web.zoom.us/webinar/register/6517252722961/WN_bmhF0xFzTbyD2mUki_Z8tQ#/registration will also examine the implications of deepfakes on identity verification at financial firms.

Deepfakes are videos of a person which has been digitally altered, usually to spread misinformation.

Experts have warned that being able to spot these videos is crucial to avoid costly mistakes.

This included the example of a company which recently lost $26 million (link: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2024/feb/05/hong-kong-company-deepfake-video-conference-call-scam ) after an employee was duped by a fake video of the firm’s executives.

The webinar, which will be held at 2pm BST on Tuesday September 24, will give finance professionals tips to ensure they can pin down similar scams.

The event, titled ‘Identity Verification and Deepfakes – Insight from the Experts’, is hosted by ID-Pal in association with AML Intelligence.
