THE City of London Police has appointed Tor Garnett as Commander National, joining the Chief Officer Team to help lead the national policing response to economic and cybercrime.
Garnett, previously a Detective Chief Superintendent at the Metropolitan Police, has overseen investigations into financial crime, including cybercrime, fraud and money laundering, as well as modern slavery, and violent robbery.
City of London Commissioner Pete O’Doherty said Garnett “is a phenomenal senior leader who brings a huge amount of specialist knowledge, skills and experience”.
“She is a proactive agent of change, and I am confident she will contribute greatly to the continued evolution of the City of London Police and delivery of its national responsibilities,” he said.
Garnett said “I’m looking forward to learning from highly professional officers and tackling fraud, cybercrime and money laundering nationally to protect the public.”
Garnett began her policing career in 2008 as a constable in Hackney and has held both investigative and uniformed roles, including Senior Investigating Officer in Counter Terrorism and Deputy Commander for Westminster, Kensington and Chelsea, and Hammersmith and Fulham.
She also co-founded Police Now, a British charity supporting the recruitment of police officers across England & Wales, designing its training curriculum.
