NEWS: Russian explosive makers using fertilizer firms to bypass sanctions

RUSSIA is securing chemical ingredients for explosives from fertilizer companies that have largely avoided international sanctions, according to reports.

The orders include tens of thousands of tons of nitric acid and a nitric-sulphuric acid mix, intended for JSC Spetskhimiya, one of Russia’s largest explosives manufacturers. This allows Russia to maintain its military capabilities despite stringent economic restrictions.
