Ireland’s Minister for Justice, Helen McEntee TD, will deliver the opening address for next month’s Women in FinCrime Summit, it has just been announced.
In celebration of International Women’s Day (IWD), the third Women in FinCrime Summit will bring together outstanding leaders and regulators from around the world.
The event will have two plenary sessions – timed for European and US audiences.
Minister McEntee has been a member of the Irish Government since 2013. Her previous positions include Minister of State for European Affairs from 2017 to 2020, and Minister of State for Mental Health and Older People from 2016 to 2017.
During her term as Minister for Justice, Minister McEntee has said she will focus on tackling financial and economic crime. She is the fourth woman to hold this position in the history of Ireland.
Minister McEntee was a headline speaker during AML Intelligence’s Women in FinCrime congress last spring.
Speakers include Chair of the Egmont Group of Financial Intelligence Units and Head of the Dutch Financial Intelligence Unit, Mrs Hennie Verbeek-Kusters.
Raluca Pruna is another member of the impressive list, serving as Head of the Financial Crime Unit at the DG FISMA at the European Commission.
Ilze Znotiņa, director at Latvia’s Financial Intelligence Unit, will also join us for the morning’s thrilling discussion on the latest developments in AML/CFT, Latvia’s adaptation of goAML, and the importance of intelligence sharing.
Following the much-anticipated launch of the European Public Prosecutor’s Office in 2021, we will hear from Daniëlle Goudriaan, the European Prosecutor for the Netherlands.
Professor of FinCrime at the Middlebury Institute, Moyara Ruehson will be joining us from the United States. Ms Ruehsen is a renowned expert in money laundering and illicit financing and has appeared in Vanity Fair’s True Crime Series.
Sujata Dasgupta, the winner of the Financial Crime Head of the Year award at the GRC World Forums, will also share her award-winning insights into financial crime.
