LATEST: FCA’s Specialist Directorate chief Andrea Bowe announced as speaker for ‘International Anti-Financial Crime Summit 2024,’ London, October 9

Andrea Bowe, Director at the Financial Conduct Authority’s (FCA) Specialist Directorate will speak at the upcoming ‘International Anti-Financial Crime Summit 2024 (IAFCS2024),’ it was announced today.

Also joining the summit from the FCA is Andrew Wigston, the authority’s Head of Financial Crime.

The pair join a stellar line-up of speakers at IAFCS2024 in London on October 9 next. Participants include:

  • FATF President Elisa de Anda
  • IRS-CI Chief Guy Ficco
  • Standard Chartered’s Group Head, Conduct, Financial Crime & Compliance, Tracey McDermott
  • NCA’s NECC Head, Adrian Searle

The FCA is one of the UK’s most prominent regulators, with a key role in policing the country’s anti-money laundering regulations.

Andrea Bowe is the authority’s Director of Specialist Directorate, including amongst others. Financial Crime Market Intervention, Fraud & Financial Crime Policy and Office for Professional Body Anti-Money Laundering Supervision (OPBAS).

Andrea joined the FCA in 2006, having spent several years in private practice as a commercial litigation lawyer, and became a Director in 2018. She spent 14 years in Enforcement, specialising in complex, high profile, cutting-edge enforcement investigations, cases and projects.

Since 2020, Andrea has worked in cross-cutting roles, including jointly leading the FCA’s ambitious transformation programme and as Chief of Staff to the FCA’s CEO, Nikhil Rathi. During this time, she was also interim Director of Communications.

Andrea is currently the Chair of the International Organization of Securities Commissions Monitoring Group and the Monitoring Group Steering Committee

SPEAKER: The FCA’s Head of Financial Crime Andrew Wigston will be speaking at IAFCS 2024 being held at 10 Union Street on October 9.

Also speaking is the FCA’s Head of Financial Crime Andrew Wigston. He joined the FCA in 2012 and previously led the FCA’s supervision of retail banks and insurance firms and helped lead complex retail investigations.

Before joining the regulator, he was a partner in a law firm where he advised financial services companies on regulatory issues.    

IAFCS2024

‘International Anti-Financial Crime Summit 2024’ takes place at the 10 Union Street convention centre (within The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists building) in central London.

“This is the stand-out AFC in the UK this year. It will feature regulators, policymakers, industry leaders and law enforcement chiefs. There, they will discuss the most topical issues in financial crime in banking, fintech, gaming and insurance,” said AML Intelligence MD James Treacy.
